NKHR research mentioned in French newspaper Le Monde

Our investigative report, “Financing Oppression and Weapons Program,” was recently referenced in an article by the major French newspaper Le Monde, titled “Four Years of Fruitful Cooperation Between Russia and North Korea Against the Backdrop of the War in Ukraine” (translated from French).

The article explores the growing ties between Russia and North Korea and highlights our findings on:

👷‍♂️ The employment of North Korean workers in Russia, including payments exceeding 2.7 billion rubles funded by at least 76 Russian companies.

💸 Financial networks linked to North Korean entities operating in Russia and transferring revenue to Pyongyang.

💬 The article also features comments from NKHR Deputy Director Joanna Hosaniak on how these revenues finance North Korea’s nuclear and ballistic missile programs and enable North Korean military entities to operate clandestine weapons factories for export.
