šŸ’¬ Bringing Survivor Stories to Life Through VR

At NKHR, we wanted to find a new way to help people understand the reality of North Korea’s political prison camps. That’s why we created an immersive VR experience based on survivor testimonies.

🐟 The story:

You step into the life of a nine-year-old boy who, together with his family, is forcibly sent to a North Korean political prison camp without knowing why - bringing only his fishbowl with him. The boy experiences forced labor, extreme hunger, and the harsh realities of life inside North Korea’s political prison camps, while doing everything he can to make sure that not only he survives, but his fish do too.

šŸŽØ During our recent exhibition, visitors, as well as representatives from multiple media outlets, tried the experience for the first time. For many, it offered a different way to learn about the realities of political prison camps by stepping into the story rather than simply reading about it.
